Alfresco & Amazon Alexa integration
Last April we attended to Alfresco BeeCon, in Zaragoza, where Gethin James talked about “10 Novel Ways To Use Alfresco”. During his presentation, he demonstrated the possibilities that Alfresco has to integrate itself with technologies like Camel, Kafka, Machine Learning, Smart Tv, etc. But he talked also about Amazon Alexa and Alfresco integration.
And that was…
But wait, what is Amazon artificial intelligence?
Following Wikipedia entry:
Alexa is an intelligent personal assistant developed by Amazon […] It is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, and other real time information, such as news.
Knowing this, are you able to imagine yourself talking with Alfresco like in the SCI-FI movies? Yes! It is possible! Ok, we will review in this post how can be integrated. So…
How can I connect my Alfresco with Alexa?
The following image is from the Gethin’s presentation but is really nice to have an overview and see how can be done:
In one side we have Alexa Skill kit, which use Lambda to create the appropriate services to integrate with Alfresco (also, we need Alexa addon installed and configured in our Alf).
Okay, now that we understand better how is this “magic” possible, let’s take a look into Gethin‘s presentation and see how he is able to talk with Alfresco using Alexa Skills:
As you can imagine, Alfresco is become more and more powerful combined with some of the new technologies. This ECM is not any more a simple ECM, it’s becoming part of the future (and the future is starting right now!).
Are you integrating Alfresco with other technology? For example: Elastic search, kibana, Machine Learning, Camel, etc.. Do you want to share with us your experience? Ping us on twitter 😎
